Glendale Water and Power’s “GWP” Project Recognized with GridWeek2010 Leadership Award
GWP’s Smart Meter initiative has been recognized through a preeminent industry award. Utility Partners of America (UPA) congratulates Glenn Steiger, General Manager of Glendale Water & Power, who accepted the Deployment Award from GridWeek2010 for the city’s comprehensive smart grid implementation.
GridWeek’s Leadership Awards recognize individuals and organizations that have the vision and drive to apply new technologies in ways that create value for our society.
In February 2010, UPA began replacing GWP’s electric and water meters with smart meters across its service network. UPA completed the installation of the communications network earlier this summer. The installation is providing 84,500 electric and 33,400 water customers access to advanced metering technologies that generate a two-way communication network and provide continuous system monitoring.
